A foundational study examining barbed wire as both material and artifact.
A foundational study examining barbed wire as both material and artifact.
Barbed wire transformed the American West. More than a fencing material, it reshaped settlement, ranching, land management, and the physical landscape of the frontier.
This study presents barbed wire as an object worthy of observation, encouraging viewers to consider its design, function, and lasting influence on Western history.

The Study
Barbed wire is often overlooked as an ordinary utilitarian object, yet its invention fundamentally changed ranching, property boundaries, transportation, and settlement throughout the American frontier. By removing the material from its original context and presenting it as an educational artifact, the study invites viewers to reconsider the role seemingly simple objects play in shaping history.
